My hubby was in school full-time and it was such a relief for both of us not needing to worry about feeding ourselves. :) And like a previous poster said, it gave us the opportunity to settle into our baby schedule. I was a first time momma, so this gave me the opportunity to gain the confidence to take care of my boys without the overwhelming task of taking care of the house too!Rebeccat_11noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18751784.post-58854125123890361482011-09-01T09:25:18.735-07:002011-09-01T09:25:18.735-07:00Nom! I remember the first time I had a Maui pineapple when I was thirteen and my reaction was the same - like I had never had pineapple before once I tasted the Maui. Then I lived there for a while and got spoiled by all the delicious fruit that was readily available that I can't find in the Midwest now. Oh boy am I craving Maui Golds now! And liliquoi and guava! My dad was here for a week too. I had a c-section so it was tough to get around for the first few weeks I was home. My mom helped me with all the getting up and sitting down and bringing me things so I didn't have to bend so much. I did not sit down to breastfeed without my dad or mom or someone bringing me a glass of water which was so great because tandem feeding twins makes your throat constantly dry. I was hungrier than 3 men and everything my mom made tasted like heaven.

The first night we came home from the hospital, the babies would not sleep unless they were held. My mom came in at 6am and I was a mess. She swaddled each baby up tight and then swaddled them together with their temples touching. They instantly calmed down and fell asleep. She was a GENIUS! Twins are used to being in a tight space with their twin touching them. Often in the first month I carried both twins one stacked on top of the other in a cradle hold and they LOVED it. I didn't have a sling or a moby wrap, but I would highly recommend them. And skin to skin contact was also very popular to calm my babes. Sometimes we would sit on the couch with a bed pillow horizontal on our laps and both of them next to each other on the pillow so they could kick and we could gaze at them and they could try to focus on us. Bliss.

My mother and mother in law said it was so fun to help me because they always had a baby to hold, unlike with one baby where everyone is waiting their turn :o) but twin caregivers also get really good at holding two at a time. I burped mine at the same time- one on each shoulder, holding them on my forearms with my arms crossed over their backs as I patted.

I can see you with one baby in a bouncer, one on a playmat, both soothed to sleep by the whir of the sewing machine.

Good luck! It was/is the BEST experience of my life and I was scared to death before they actually arrived.Jessicahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01312854545768322623noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18751784.post-66107095641581389052011-08-31T23:40:29.732-07:002011-08-31T23:40:29.732-07:00My mom is from San Diego and she came to stay with...My mom is from San Diego and she came to stay with us for 2 weeks when my twin daughters were born!
