Forgive me if it's a little quiet here this week. I've been in DC since Saturday c/o The United Nations Foundation/Shot@Life listening to extremely dynamic people talk about global health issues and what we can do to advocate for our fellow humans in ways that are productive and informed.

Make the Ordinary Come Alive

Do not ask your children

to strive for extraordinary lives.

Such striving may seem admirable,

but it is a way of foolishness.

Help them instead to find the wonder

and the marvel of an ordinary life.

Show them the joy of tasting

tomatoes, apples, and pears.

Show them how to cry

when pets and people die.

Show them the infinite pleasure

in the touch of a hand.

And make the ordinary come alive for them.

The extraordinary will take care of itself.

Twin Day

"Oh, look. You guys are doing Twin Day on Thursday."

"Mom, I know that already."

"Oh. Well. Is there someone at your school you want to be twins with?"

"Why would I want to dress the same as another person? I'm going to be twins with myself."

And that is exactly what she did.
