When I was little I wanted to be a princess. Little did I know that one day...

"Honey*?" Archer asked this morning, as I was getting him dressed for school, "Are you a Queen?"

"Aw. No, silly. But I am something way cooler. Do you know what that is?"

"Um... Um... Um..."

"I'm your mommy who loves you!"

"No!"

"No? What do you mean No?"

"YOU'RE A QUEEN!!!"

(And with that? I'll live happily ever after.)

GGC

*Archer no longer refers to Hal and me as "Daddy" and "Mommy." Instead he calls us both "Honey," as in "can you please wipe my butt, Honey? Thanks, Honey. Goodnight my Honeys"... Goddamn adorable that is.

**As you probably noticed, GGC has a new masthead! Made with love by my friend, Heidi Burton, an incredible artist whose beautifully quirky art and stationary will change your life.

Quite possibly one of the sweetest things I have ever read. Gotta love kids. They speak their minds, you know? :)

Jasie VanGesen | 11:42 PM

way way way too cute. I think I'd melt into a useless puddle if my son called me honey.

Adorable boy.

Absolutely love the new banner....too cute!

Cati | 1:44 AM

Love the banner but it takes ages to load. ¿Maybe change the resolution? Dunno, just saying.

Btw remember all that about opening an etsy shop? It's up and running

That is so sweet! My Mom has requested to be called Honey instead of some form of Grandma!

Wicked Step Mom | 5:46 AM

That is cute that he calls you both, Honey.

Masthead looks great!

This entry made my day.

That boy knows the way to a girls heart. Hal must have taught him well... either that or he's just freakin' awesome! Glad you're a queen!

Ashley | 6:54 AM

I love it! My boy sometimes calls me "Sweetheart" and it just warms me all over.

And totally wonderful that he thinks his Mama's a queen, that's so cute!

Anonymous | 7:07 AM

that is too sweet!
BTW....where on earth did you find that comforter...it is awesome!

JenP | 7:25 AM

I called my mom Honey for a long time, because that's what her dad called her. Now my son calls her that. (Well, we call her that for him--he's only 11 months old.)

Amanda | 7:57 AM

This post made me laugh out loud. Rock on Archer.

Anonymous | 8:26 AM

Too cute! My daughter Gracie, who is two, sometimes calls me "little dear". I have no idea where she got it from but I love it!

beyond | 8:55 AM

archer is too cute for words!

foodiemama | 9:02 AM

so cute. when gus was 1 1/2-2 yrs old he used to call me babe. I loved it. now I get called poopyhead!

Mary@Holy Mackerel | 9:05 AM

My son sometimes calls me "sweetie". My daughter, when she was a little one, called my husband "beardmole". Try to figure that one out.

Jackie | 9:06 AM

Aww, too cute! My 2yr old Abigayle is in love with all things "Disney Princess" right now - especially Cinderella. I thought it was pretty darn adorable when she'd point at a picture of a prince and say "it's Daddy!", but now I'm wondering what I can do do be promoted to "Queen"! lol
Keep up the sweet talk, Archer my man - it'll take you places :)

April | 9:13 AM

how cute :-) my son calls me sweetheart occasionally and it totally makes me melt!

Elisa @ Globetrotting in Heels | 9:23 AM

He's awesome :-) How often do you get a man to admit that you are, in fact, a queen?

Amy | 9:28 AM

First of all, the new masthead is adorable! And I loved the sister wife photos from Mother's Day. They totally cracked me up. Hail the queen.

Julienne | 9:28 AM

Friends of mine were trying to see if their three year old knew what their names were (other than mom and dad).

Dad: Marcus, do you know what my name is?
Marcus: Yep - Todd.
Dad: And what's Mommy's name?
Marcus: HONEY!

Too cute, both Archer and Marcus.

Dee | 9:32 AM

SO Sweet! I love it when that happens!

Hadey | 9:33 AM

That is too cute. My almost 2 year old daughter has taken to calling her dad babe. She runs around the house looking for him shouting "Hey babe!" It's way too cute.

Caitlin | 10:11 AM

Rebecca,
Your children are truly precious. In that phoro the other day I see a tattoo on Archer's forearm, and I can see straight into the future and tell you, he's totally going to be that sweet skinny boy with tattoos and a soft voice who drives the girls wild. ;)

Can't say I like the new amsthead better than the last, but it's not bad!

Liz | 10:25 AM

OMG that is hilarious! Honey? Too effing cute.

Babing at High Altitude | 10:35 AM

Haha! That is my favorite thing about kids, their whole perception of life. They call it like they see it, and that's that. My daughter still just cries at me, but I really look forward to the talking thing.

What a sweet post!

He's so right, you ARE a queen!!! I love it, too cute!

ikke ikke | 11:43 AM

I love the new banner... and this post!

Marcella | 11:49 AM

I totally second Caitlin's comment. Sometimes Archer seriouuuusly reminds me of Nick Zinner (guitarist, photographer, quiet, short, apparently went to a highly-selective college where all the girls mooned over him). Sometimes. Vice versa as well. Hee. x)

And I must say that I LOOOOVE the new banner! It's so quirky and lovely.

Ray | 11:49 AM

Awww, that is the sweetest thing ever! Archer is such a sweetheart. I’m sure that made your heart melt when he told you that. <3 And your new masthead is too cute. ^o^

Sonja Streuber, PMP(R), SSBB | 11:52 AM

Aaaaah, Archer! What a sweet honey (heehee)!

Is that his real hair or one of Hal's old wigs?

Adrianne | 1:02 PM

One of my friends' little boy calls him grandma his Sweetie. As in, "I want to go to my Sweetie's house." :) So cute!

I have a story similar to Julienne's. I used to work in a daycare and one morning during "circle time" we were asking all of the kids what their parents' names were. Most of them got it (they were 2.5-3.5 yrs). One little boy couldn't figure out what we were asking him. We kept saying, "what's your mommy's real name?" And he would respond with "Mommy!" Finally we said, "ok, well what does your daddy call your mommy?" His answer? "Sweetheart." It was the cutest thing ever and his parents got a huge kick out of it when we told them. Kids are so damn cute.

Angie | 2:01 PM

One time, over 10 years ago, my then-3-year-old niece announced during a car ride, "Aunt Angie laughs like a queen!"

I will always remember it, and always love it. And I do indeed laugh like a queen. Thanks for the reminder! :)

Katie | 2:04 PM

I read on a blog somewhere (maybe ms kennedy) that 4 1/2 year old boys are totally in love with their mommies. Obviously, he's a bit advanced (Queen!) :D but man is he a sweet talker. I so love mamas' boys. Mine loves me most of the time, until he doesn't get his way and then instead of being his "best mommy ever" i'm suddenly "mean" and "rude" and sometimes when he pushes it, "a poopoo head". he's got my temperament, damnit.

Lisa Jo Rudy | 2:34 PM

Oh man - it's good to be the Queen. Another great example of how the Power of Small can make you ruler of the world!

Maternal Mirth | 2:59 PM

If Archer could please send my children the memo on Motherhood = Royalty, that'd be great. Thanks.

Anonymous | 5:43 PM

Awwwww. How sweet is that? I am a big puddle of goo when my girl tells me 'Mom, you are sooo beautiful'.

BEAT | 6:46 PM

Just wondering, but why are there three children? Telling us something. Been curious since I saw it yesterday. Thanks.

Desiree | 9:08 PM

haha that is just tooooo precious!

GIRL'S GONE CHILD | 8:25 AM

Ha! My mom said the same thing about the banner "there are THREE CHILDREN, there!"...

It's a doll. :)

Anonymous | 9:49 AM

Wow what a switch! A picture of Archer instead of light bulb head!

Anonymous | 6:18 AM

It is good to be Queen.
Must have comforter/ duvet; where ever did you find it?

Baseball Pins | 11:56 AM

Just too precious. Treasure these moments now, as they grow up fast! Also take lots and lots of pictures for memory keepsake later on in life when they are all grown.
