Dimple, stay

Her eyes appear to be going green. Like my eyes are and Hal's and her uncle Russell's. Green like both grandmothers' eyes.

Her hair is turning red, like her great aunt Francie, her late great great grandmother, Frances. She looks more like Hal every day and when she smiles, a tiny dimple appears in the middle of her left cheek, my favorite place to kiss her.

Her eyes may not stay green. They may go brown like Archer's did.

Her hair may end up blonde like mine was my whole life until my 21st birthday, when it suddenly went brown.

Her dimple may fade with age as dimples usually and unfortunately do. But not yet. Not now. Not for a very long while.*

*I hope

She's beautiful!! Both of my girls' eyes turned brown. Sadie's were bright blue when she was a baby and I wish they had stayed, but I love how my baby girls turned out (of course they're only 10 months and 2 years, so I guess they're not completely turned out yet)!

Dear sweet baby! That's seriously enough to make a pregnant lady shed a tear. It's a good thing you live in another state, I could be tempted to beg to squeeze those cheekes!

NOELLE ALOUD | 6:36 PM

Whoa! She looks EXACTLY like Hal in that second picture. Holy pouty lips, batgirl!

GIRL'S GONE CHILD | 6:38 PM

I'm such a soft touch for dimples! You make beautiful babies. It's amazing watching them grow isn't it? Just yesterday I was looking at my daughters foot and wondering when those long knobbly toes replaced the chubby baby feet I remembered. It's kind of sad but exciting at the same time, to see how they change every day. What they get from you, from him, from Grandma, and what's new and unique and all their own.

P.S. Having followed the trails from here... I get how you came to be such a great writer. It's in your blood, how cool is that? Also you look entirely different with blond hair wow!

Nancy | 7:50 PM

You have such a cute baby girl :) I love her name as well

Unknown | 8:24 PM

She's adorable, but I just don't see the dimples.

GIRL'S GONE CHILD | 8:40 PM

Really? There's just one. You can see it in the last picture on her little cheek.

WOW, twenty years of life with blonde hair and then on your 21st year it changed to brown; that's insane! I've never heard of change like that so late on in life. My cousin used to have blonde hair, but it changed to brown. He's 14 now, and it's been brown for awhile now though.

On the eyes: My little cousin Alyssa is a year old with blue eyes, and I think they say if you pass the year mark they supposingly stay that way, but I'm not so sure about that. Because my cousin's girlfriend had blue eyes until the age of 5 or 6 and then they changed to brown, so you never know.

But anyhow Fable is just too cute with her green eyes and that cute little dimple (and she very much looks like her daddy). I never heard about dimples fading, hopefully her's is permanent.

Take, care. =o)

she is so cute. I have said that approximately 5 billion times but it is true... she is so. effing. cute.

If it makes you feel better, I'm 25 and still have the same dimple I've always had on my right cheek :)

Julie Marsh | 9:33 PM

I do see that adorable dimple. But more than that, those photos just made me grin. What a personality she's got!

Anonymous | 9:38 PM

I'm glad that my dimple has stayed with me so far. I'm 23 now.

And holy crap those pictures of you with blonde hair....I wouldn't recognize you at all, you look SO different.

Mommynightowl | 10:12 PM

she is so cute!!! I hope her eyes stay that color, they are beautiful, not that they wouldn't be if they did turn brown. And my daughter had red in her hair at that age too and now its getting more blonde everyday

She'll be so gorgeous with red hair and green eyes! Or blonde hair and brown eyes! Or however she ends up, really : )

Prasti | 5:27 AM

she is so sweet! that sweater is pretty awesome too :)

Molly | 6:10 AM

Ohh, that dimple. I just want to fill it with tequila and slurp it out. Would that be wrong?

Yes. I am 17 weeks pregnant. That would be wrong.

Anonymous | 8:51 AM

Ooh, a dimple!! How are you ever supposed to get anything done if she has a dimple?! Those do me in EVERY TIME!!!

Anonymous | 9:40 AM

I have a huge dimple and when Emma was 2 weeks old a huge dimple showed up and she still has it at 4 months. I don't know if dimples go away, I hope not because I love it.

Anonymous | 10:13 AM

This is so lovely. You make me want to go home and stare at my babies and document their features at this very moment.

oh, fyi: I have one dimple just like hers. It's still here at 37!

mames | 12:22 PM

oh gawd. she is b-e-a-u-tiful.

show these pictures to the child free by choicers...they will be banging it out in the bedroom in no time.

Maddy'sMama | 1:01 PM

Apparently the first thing the doctor said when he delivered me was "look at that dimple!" I am now 30 years old and it's still there. My 9 month old little girl has a dimple too. Very kissable!

Anonymous | 2:41 PM

AAAAHHHHHHH I LOVE HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sarah | 3:04 PM

don't lose hope - sometimes the dimples stick around! i still have mine, and i'm 27!

denese | 9:55 PM

my baby ruby was born a month & a half before fable. also has the delicious dimples, also has the eyes that are changing color. although only one of ruby's eyes is changing, and only a quarter of it has changed so far. thanks for sharing fable's development; it's like ruby has a little blog buddy. or, more like i do. good enough.

Mom101 | 4:29 PM

There is nothing more satisfying than a baby who smiles easily. That first picture is absolutely priceless.

I'm trying to think of more cliches about how cute they are but eh... you get the point. Gorgeous.

You have two very beautiful children Rebecca! You are definitely amazing at baby making LOL!

DivaIsNotABadWord | 5:00 AM

HI,

I have kept my dimples and the other kind of dimple related cuteness for almost 37 years.. I am pretty sure that cutie pie will indeed keep that dimple..so keep on kissing!

BTW My hubby nick named me dimples.....lol

Lara | 9:02 AM

I just wanted to let you know that I have dimples and they haven't diminished in size at ALL, and I'm 28:

So maybe hers will stick around!

Binky | 1:11 PM

Dimples do WHAT? My son has one in the same spot as Fable, and it didn't even occur to me that it could go away.

I'm going to ignore this and go back to my blissful, dimpled ignorance.

The other day I wrote about how moms and bloggers seem to forget to write about how wonderful motherhood can be. You, you are not guilty. What a wonderful tribute to your kids. What incredible children you have.
