The Curtain Correspondance (Sponsored)

The following post is part of a two-part series sponsored by Yahoo! Mail, email carrier pigeon to the stars. Or, you know, regular folk like us.

partial nursery, two weeks ago (complete with curtain swatches)

Curtains. After three tedious weeks of emailing back-and-forth with my mom re: which fabric should be THE fabric, we finally have something. But it took some taking to get there, mainly a thousand back-and-forth emails of "what do you think of this link?" and "how do you feel about one panel per window vs. two?" and... "????" "!!!???!" "xoxoxox!" Because let's be honest, not every email is a literary masterpiece. Especially where curtains are concerned. (Okay, so I'm sure people wax poetic about curtains all the time but I am not one of those people. At least, not according to the email exchange I'm about to share with you.)

Before we begin, I'd like to introduce you to our twin clients.... the windows:

Nursery is currently multi-tasking as an office/construction zone. Also, hi Fable!

Now, without further ado, here, in all its raw explanation-point(ed) glory is our curtain correspondence: from beginning to present day (hello, there!) where I am currently shopping for rods on my computer machine, and yes, sending my mother the link to every. single. one. In the meantime...
Our last two weeks in emails:

Hey!

Which fabric did you want, again? I'd like to order it now so I can get started.

I have no idea what I want. I am suddenly totally overwhelmed and confused. I thought I wanted this one but now I think maybe it has too much green?

I like the blue floral/bird fabric we have the swatch for:

...I think the purple will match the bookcase and the birds are really pretty.

No way. Those totally clash with the Zebra/Giraffe. I love the fabric but we need to go with something more animal...ish.

Okay, so now I'm leaning toward this one. It was the one I wanted originally and I think it would look really perfect with the dresser, rug and bookshelf (as soon as I paint the sucker).

Okay! I'm going to go the fabric store now! Can you measure from the middle of the window frame at the TOP of the window to the middle of the frame at the BOTTOM of the window? Hopefully they'll have enough fabric!

Why don't we do the birds for the bumper fabric, instead? I matched it with another fabric and look!

I finished one of the curtains but I'm thinking it might look better with two bunched up on each window? I took one picture of the curtain flat and another of the curtain bunched up. Call me! I'm leaving to go for a walk on the beach.

I think you're right. Two panels might look better. How much fabric should I order?

I love this! You and your mom are exactly like me and mine. How lucky are we that we get such amazing and supportive women to help us and celebrate our lives with us!? Thank you for sharing this exchange - and the fabrics are amazingly beautiful. Makes me wish I was pregnant awaiting a little girl who would grow up in an inspiring, stylish and beautiful room!

Amelia | 12:04 PM

curtains look lovely! Also related/unrelated...think that we can talk your mama into sharing the bumper making process with us? I ambitiously hope to tackle this project at some point in distant-ish future...
:)

GIRL'S GONE CHILD | 12:08 PM

Yes! Going to do a bumper tutorial, actually! Stay tuned!

Is your mother available for adoption? Like, can I adopt her to be my mom? She totally rocks. (And is clearly a large part of why you rock.)

For what it's worth, I love all the curtain choices. lol

The Hojo Family | 12:18 PM

Your mom HAS to make and sell those on etsy!! AMAZING! And it all goes together so perfectly!

Christy / Thrifty Vintage Kitten | 12:29 PM

OMG You and your mom are flippin' adorable.
P.S. Love the curtains
P.P.S. Can you come decorate my house? ;)

Glenda | 12:38 PM

I'm loving all of the fabrics! You and your mom are just like me and my mom used to be (she passed in 2004) and how me and my daughter are! What an amazing mother/daughter bond.

Jasmine | 12:54 PM

You and your mom are hilarious! Awesome curtains!

vickichristine | 1:25 PM

Cave Momma | 6:18 PM

I totally love it all and I love you guys. Your mom rocks and I would like to hire her to make my kids' clothes for me.

Ray | 10:50 PM

You and your mom are too cute! I love how much detail is so important to you. The curtains are so cute! Love it! Can't wait to see the whole nursery when it's done. ^o^

Barbara R. | 5:25 AM

You have a beautiful relationship with your mother. So lovely to read! And the curtains look fantastic. Much much love to you, Rebecca. And happy 30th!

Bless with a Boy | 7:46 AM

Loved it! haha I just think that is how family emails one another. Love the nursery so far. Way different then I would have picked but, it works.

mom2nji | 12:51 PM

Can I have your mom? Is she interested in another 23 week pregnant daughter? Those are amazing.

Megan | 8:33 PM

Great curtains!

Your emails sound a lot like the ones between my mum and I haha
We do the bulk of our talking on skype so most of the emails we send are quick ones with lots of x's and o's at the end (it seems there are more when we're in the biggest rush!).

Ashley | 7:44 AM

Rebecca! I used the same exact prints for my nursery last year. My mom cut up the fabrics and mixed them to make a bumper and curtains. I'll have to send photos. I still love it a year later and it has become a wonderful place for my little girl to explore and twirl and dream.

Michelle | 11:15 AM

Love the curtains! The nursery is really coming together.

I have a new favorite shopping organizer tool that might help you out: http://www.wingtipit.com/. You add a link to your bookmark bar, then anytime you see something you like, whether it's on Etsy or Ikea or wherever, you just click the link and it adds it to your "closet." Then you can browse everything at once, see them all next to each other, and share them with other people (ie, WW) to get their thoughts.

Good luck with the rest of the room!
