Gone Style: Good Wear Days (The End) (For now, at least)

IMG_1906
First, I want to start by announcing this week's winner because it makes me happy. So! Congratulations to commenter #34 MommyMae! who picked up THIS sassy n' striped little number at an Estate Sale. Get it, girl! MommyMae chose the CCFA or Crohns and Colitis Foundation of America to receive the hundred dollar donation which (hooray!) makes me happy because I spent five years working with kids and teens with chronic illnesses that included Crohns and Colitis and HOLY SHIT, yo, Fuck Crohns. Right in the mouth.

So, thank you, MommyMae for choosing a fantastic cause! And thank you to everyone else for participating this past week. You're the best.

Smile.

Sigh.

So.

This is it, I guess. A bit of a relief. It's some tedious shit posing in front of the damn door every day. Style bloggers, my beanie is off to you. Fans of style and bad posing, not to worry! More Gone Style related things in the future for sure, including possible Good Wear Days in '11 and more video-type-makeover thingys.

My plan was to post one last week of wears but things got a little hectic crazytown around here and Hal (resident photographer that he is) was very busy working a thousand hours a day in the mines of the Style Network. (BTW, Hal produced a clip show for Lucky Magazine that airs this Saturday at 9pm and features Fable working some serious cameo action.)

Anyway. I did manage to get three looks this week, all coordinated cord-inated with the same corduroy half-jacket, a festive romp of a thing which was a birthday gift from my wonderful friend, Danielle, owner of the sequined pants of staggering genius and my heart.

Anyway. Here are three looks, one jacket:

Look #1
<span class=
jacket: thrifted/gift from the lovely Dani
scarf: also a gift (so far this outfit was free)
one-piece jumper thing: Fluxus
leggings: AA
boots: thrifted
poop: invisible
bag: navoh
<span class=
Look #2, a more studious ensemb, for serious conversations and existential crisis...ing
<span class=
jacket: thrifted/gift from the lovely Dani
high-waisted butt-jeans (which is my new band name): free c/o friendly clothing swap
Belt: stolen from my mom
glasses: Oliver Peoples
boots: Jeffrey Campbell
<span class=
This was something I wore yesterday when it was cold. The braids are because I hadn't washed my hair in a while. Clearly this is why pigtail braids were invented. Hats, too.
<span class=
jumper: LF's sale rack
everything else: you already know at this point.
<span class=
Anyway! As previously stated a thousand and one times, this was totally fun. Thank you so much for participating with your gorgeous photos of your gorgeous selves rocking gorgeous looks. You win.
<span class=
Viva la Goodweardaysrevolucion!

Fin.

though i've never participated, i have really enjoyed following this series. i will be sad to see it go :(. you and others are fashion inspirations to me...and help to always steer clear of those crazy-bad mom jeans!

Marianne | 6:06 AM

I have loved this series. So much fun! I hope you'll still post the occasional outfit. And in solidarity, here is my misguided mustard yellow tights outfit:

Love those high-waisted butt-jeans girl! And man-repeller... funny gold.

Amanda | 7:45 AM

I NEED me some high-waisted butt jeans ASAP! I'm still on the hunt for a good high-waist/wide-leg a'la Katharine Hepburn, to no avail *shakes fists at the heavens*.

I'm kinda bummed it's over (well, on a hiatus? Taking a break? Is my wishful thinking showing?) but I know how tedious it can be to pose and get your husband to take pictures, especially after a long day at work. That's the main reason I haven't participated as much as I would have liked.

Also! Didn't Hal work on "How Do I Look?" I love that show and the husband has a big ol' crush on Jeannie Mai. That girl can rock a pencil skirt like nobodies business!

NOELLE ALOUD | 7:56 AM

I love your style, and you seem to have an endless stream of funky-cool unusual pieces in your clothing rotation.

Question - and I mean this in a non-judgy way: where do you keep it all?! Any clothing storage/organization tips for a girl whose (one, small) dresser is constantly overflowing and crazy?

Cave Momma | 8:01 AM

I have never participated (hard to do when your wardrobe consists of just standard basics due to 2 children insisting on wearing your accessories themselves) but I have loved these. You are definitely an inspiration and I love it! Hope to see some more in 2011.

I'm REALLY going to miss this series. I hope you return to it at some point, but look forward to whatever you decide to do next.

If one random person's opinion matters, I would OMG LOVE to see you do something with your amazing decorating / home furnishing style. Every photo you post of your home makes me sigh with delight. While I enjoy living vicariously through your fashion style, I could actually implement some of your fab decorating into my own life.

Much love to you.

Thanks, guys! You rule! And I love your yellow mustard tights, Marianne! You always look amazing.

Baby in Broad - don't have THAT many clothes. i really don't. I just mix 'em up - I have a closet that's decent sized but not huge and I share it with Hal. I shop rarely but only buy things I'm pretty sure I'll want to wear in ten years. The occasional trendy piece but only if it's on sale and/or on the cheap.

And yes, Amanda! Hal still works on How Do I Look? - shoot's on hiatus right now until February so he produced a clip show for Style/Lucky Magazine that's super funny, actually.

And Jeannie Mai rules! She's a fox and a doll to boot.

And thank you, Nicole! Eventually will do a series on decorating the living room which is very unfinished right now... But thank you! Will keep that in mind!

Glenda | 10:56 AM

Loved this series. Looking fwd to decorating tips too! Keep rockin'!

Such an awesome series! Sad to see it end, but I look forward to more Gone Style in 2011!

This is inspiring me to pull out my high-waisted butt jeans from '07.

I want to DVR that Lucky Mag clip show! Especially if Fable makes a cameo.

Sarai | 11:39 AM

I'm sad this is the end, even if it is just for now! Your style is so inspiring to me, and I love seeing how you mix and match thrifted items with store-bought items and wear certain things over and over (like those boots we all LOVE!!) but still manage to always be creative, different, and gorgeous! Thanks for sharing.

Kristina | 11:55 AM

Look 3 and 4!!! You have amazing style!!!

mommymae | 1:35 PM

Tanya | 2:48 PM

I'm going to miss checking out your outfits. Bring 'em back soon!

"I...only buy things I'm pretty sure I'll want to wear in ten years."

I LOVE that. I'm adopting it as my new clothing philosophy!

Ramblemum | 7:43 PM

Loved the series, love the jacket but more importantly where did you get that duvet cover? Ours are all plain White need to inject some colour to my sad bedroom in Scotland :(

Liz | 7:59 PM

Thanks so much for hosting these! I had such a great time and you really inspired me to pull myself together and get out of my mommy rut. I even started style blogging (crazytown!). Thanks again!

Lola | 10:46 AM

I am a 17 year old girl, and I was diagnosed with Chron's disease when I was 14. It warms my heart to know somebody is actually taking this disease seriously. I'm lucky enough to have found a treatment that works for me, but for the dozens I've met and sat through hours of treatment with and gotten to know who aren't as blessed, as you so eloquently put it- FUCK CHRON'S.
