Gone Style: Good Wear Days (Week One)

<span class=
wearing clothes.

I have no idea how long this is going to last but per your request(s) I'm going to launch a weekly style round-up with some of my daily wears and I'm asking you, lovely ladies (and gentlemen, if you so desire!) to do the same. Why, you ask? Because, it's fun. And perhaps more importantly, because I have prizes. Fabulously chic prizes lined up for the next few weeks for those who participate in this little "my style" + "your style" = fun times.

Are you down?

Want to hear more?

Read on, fine friends! Read on!

Here's what I'm asking: sometime this week (or every day if you'd like) shoot a snap (or a few!) of a head-to-toe look that makes you feel good. I don't care if it's a unitard with leopard platform shoes (I like) or your favorite yoga pants paired with tasseled pasties. The point is to showcase your personal style. Whatever that means to YOU.

What turns you on? Wear it. Shoot it. Post it. You can upload to facebook, flickr, your blog, twitter (#goodweardays), tumblr, whateverthekidsaredoingthesedaysr etc, etc, et al. Just be sure to post your photo(s) link(s) in the comments below.

Here are some of (my) this week's wears. Please ignore my embarrassingly am poses and psychotic faux-smiles. Effortlessness does not come effortlessly to me. I do not know how to smile with my eyes. (I do know how to smile with my eyes closed however.)
Jacket: Madchen/Anthropologie
Shirt: Torn (Barneys Co-Op)
Jumpsuit: Fluxus
Boots: Nicole
Dress: vintage find (@ Melrose Trading Post)
Necklaces: thrifted
Leggings: American Apparel
Shoes: Toms
The purse is Navoh.
Jumper: Anthropologie sale rack (last season)
Blouse: Urban Outfitters (a thousand seasons ago)
Boots: Hand-me-downs from my aunt
This week, I'll be giving away this fantastic tote from Clava. I'd been in the market for a new computer bag for months (years?) and this one fits my MacBook, chord, notebooks and various other items with room to spare. Behold:
Boots: Vince Camuto
(Navy) cigarette jean/cords: Genetic Denim
cape-ish cardigan: Beulah (sale rack find)
Layered tanks: Anthropologie/Target
Bag: Clava
Thanks for the hook-up, Clava ladies! You rock!

Want to win the Clava shoulder tote? To reiterate: Post your favorite wears of the week (via your flickr, twitter, facebook, blog, tumblr, etc etc etc), then post the link to your photo(s) in the comments below.

ED: If you have multiple wears, go ahead and post each link individually (as different comments). Each link will be counted as one contest entry (you can post as many as six links per week). I'll pick one winner late Wednesday (via random.org) to announce on next Thursday's Good Wear Days post.

You're in, yes?

Rad. Can't wait to see what you're wearing.

Style Blog of the Week:
LA Stylist Mom = good fash + great friend

Marisa | 8:13 AM

I love your style! I will try to take a snapshot of my daily "wears" but fear too many of those photos will contain hoodies! :-) P.S. Do you have a good website recommendation for boots? Trying to find some...

What kind/style of boots are you looking to purchase? And what's your budget. Zappos is a good one. Frye makes great boots.

I think the BEST boots (for he buck) are to be found at thrift stores. My favorite boots were 30$ at a thrift shop and have lasted YEARS. I know it might sound gross to buy used shoes but boots are best, me thinks broken in. Especially if you're looking for a casual pair.

Amanda | 8:50 AM

YAY! I'm doing Emery's Fashion Week, so I'll just post my outfits from that to here. I love all your wears. Especially numero dos, since I love dresses. This is exciting, I'm glad you're doing it.

Tasha | 8:52 AM

ooooh, this is awesome and will inspire me to "dress deliberately"-#1 on my list of 30 things to do while I'm 30!

(except not today...today is not a picture worthy day!)

also, I second the Frye boots recommendation AND thrift store rec...I love my boots that I got for 2 bucks at a thrift store...and I just purchased some frye boots (Jane) which are my favorite.

Megan | 9:02 AM

Yay! I'm so glad you're going to be doing Gone Style again...makes me happy. I'm doing a Preggo Style week over at my blog, talking about shopping your closet for pregnancy friendly wear. Saving $$$ = Awesomesauce. http://www.crazybananas.com/wordpress/?p=1707

Anonymous | 9:05 AM

LOVES it! Here's my entry!

Also, you might check out http://www.mcklinky.com/ for a way to link all of the entries together so we can easily peruse the other looks. Just a thought!

LOVE your looks!

As for boots, I just got the Anthropologie "Martingale" boots and I really REALLY adore them and may or may not be tempted to sleep in them. *leaning towards may*

Anonymous | 9:25 AM

Oh man, your outfits are WAY more fun than "button-up shirt and slacks" which is what I wear to the office, lol. I will have fun reading these however!

jaclyn | 9:34 AM

Yes! One of these babies a week, I say. This is so great, helpful, inspirational. I bet you could make a living flying around and organizing all of our, your loyal readers', closets and giving us ideas about how to mix it up with some style that doesn't include yoga pants as daily wear. Go you!

First off: thanks for the rec/link abuninmyoven - would love to eventually turn this into a weekly style-stream so everyone's looks can be in the same place. So THIS is very helpful!

Second: you are all SO effing cute I can't stand it. Am loving all these looks. So chic, all of you.

And thank you, Dani! I'm really excited about this! And hope to make this is a weekly section from here on out. Super appreciate your support and loveliness! Keep posting your looks, ladies! You inspire!

Trying to decide what to wear to a wedding this Saturday. This purple dress was gifted to me by a friend who used to work for Marc Jacobs:

The cuff is by my friend Gogo:

Her stuff is amazing:

And more green accessories with these earrings by Alisha Louise:

These are the boots close up:

Also, I can't believe I'm about to post this...

Anonymous | 12:03 PM

Here's another option. This is my favorite vintage dress ever. I got it at Miss Claudia's in New Orleans. The shoes are Capezio.

Liz | 12:25 PM

Okay, gonna do this and stop being so frumpy. Totally used to dress cute before I had a baby.

Anonymous | 12:39 PM

Umm...so I followed APW to you and was all "ooh, I like her, she's awesome, love the writing, don't quite get all of the 'she's so intimidating!' comments Meg talked about!"
Then I saw this post, and I got it. :)
You are gorgeous (hair envy!) and completely able to pull things off. Also, you have a good amount of clothes. But I'm trying to channel that bit of intimidation into motivation to go try something a little out of my comfort zone! So thanks, and I'll make it my effort to get out of the work-at-home-sweats every now and then.

Home Sweet Sarah | 1:01 PM

Girl! You have perfect timing, as I've been digging a couple of my more autumn-y outfits this week! (And, I'm always in the market for a new bag!)

Here's one: http://www.flickr.com/photos/32315426@N03/5102352193/

And here's number two (worn yesterday): http://www.flickr.com/photos/32315426@N03/5099916309/in/photostream/

Althea | 1:14 PM

I have a pair of Fryes (see my linkylink) that has lasted me for YEARS. Well worth the investment. I've had them forever and have had to re-hell them once. Although I think that is more due to my crooked walking than a design flaw on their part.

Here you go!!!

Althea | 1:19 PM

writtenbliss | 1:22 PM

This is so awesome! Oh wait, does this mean I'm going to actually have to change out of the sweatpants I've been living in for the last week? Darn. ;)

Boston Mamas | 1:25 PM

Um, dude. Can you come to my house and style me? Seriously? Love these pix! xox Christine

Unknown | 3:07 PM

You have great, eclectic style! I especially like the first and the last outfits -- that cape/cardigan -- I die. (yes, I've started to adopt Zoe lingo when talking fashion)

I will try to post on Saturday since my hair will be freshly cut and I'm going out for a friend's birthday dinner. Thanks for the inspiration!

Melissa | 3:39 PM

Your last outfit is seriously my fav! I love me some black white and gray! And apparently exclamation points!

My style today is called "holy hell I dyed my hair green again on accident and had to chop 7 inches off". Lavender skirt, gray sweater, pewter sling backs.

Also, I love love love love when you do style stuff. Oh and the eat well stuff. Oh and just about everything else. If you ever find yourself in Austin your first drink is on me.

leaner | 5:50 PM

Sigh, so far this week I have worn this set of pajamas far too often...

I am, however, in the midst of a growing belly. Not big enough to look cute in maternity tops, just a little too big for regular ones.

BTW, I love your style. Maybe someday I'll have some style.

Anonymous | 6:45 PM

Great idea! Can't wait to dig thru my wardrobe and see what I come up with. Here's one of my experiments, already posted on my blog.

lonek8 | 7:25 PM

I love your style - and I love this idea of sharing our own personal fashion triumphs! Most of the time I am in yoga pants, but I had two "good wear days" this week: the first, an outfit I picked myself and wore monday:

and the second, an outfit my 4.5 yo daughter picked for me:

Can't wait to put together some more cute outfits for next week!

Diddy Bop | 7:56 PM

i love your cape-digan, very very cute. here's me in my favorite jeans & boots http://twitpic.com/2znvoy.

Jordan | 8:13 PM

I tweeted what I was wearing today!

I love the last outfit. This bag would come in handy for work/grad school/general crap I carry around for husband and child!

Emily | 11:50 PM

You are too cute!
Check out my fall ensemble at…

Hespyhesp | 6:01 AM

Your style is so fun... also, I think you look fantastic with your hair pulled up. Just sayin!

This is kind of funny bc I just joined another linky deal where we post an outfit each week, I hope you don't mind me "double-dipping" with this outfit. I do love it! I wore it to work this week which is kind of fun since everyone else I work with wears a suit of some sort!

Unknown | 6:07 AM

I'm not superfab when it comes to accessorizing, but I looove me some stretchy jersey hotness. Embracing my curves for the world on photobucket- http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v352/redglasscurls/DSCN7215.jpg

Mrs. Q. | 7:12 AM

I'm more conservative, so that last look is my favorite! I would wear the cardi/cape every day if I owned it.

My Bottle's Up! | 7:23 AM

alrighty... i stood on the bathtub AND attempted leggings for this...

Anonymous | 7:44 AM

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE include some suggestions for office wear, if you can. There's only so much a girl can accessorize her button-up and slacks/skirt. I would love to see creative suggestions from ladies in the corporate/professional world!

Marie-Ève | 8:10 AM

My favorite look is the one with the Clava tote. You're rocking it!!!

Veronica | 8:24 AM

Love this - I have been wanting to start an album to show off my thrift store finds and you have given me just the reason! Love your blog :)

marnesandnoble | 8:41 AM

So fun. Made me want to snap picks of outfits I already wore. Love the bag.

I am going to a bridal shower Sunday and either wearing:

with an awesome camel belt.

Liz | 9:31 AM

For those of you asking about corporate/business world fashion ideas, have you seen corporette.com? Totally awesome blog about fashion in the work place. Lots of suits, dresses, etc., that are totally work appropriate.

Mama Cas | 10:05 AM

Yoga pants and pasties? Have you been rummaging through my closet again??? Silly girl!

Christina | 11:19 AM

SO excited!

I personally love the "Gone Style" posts and miss the "Mini Makeovers", so I'll take what I can get!

P.S. Last week you were wearing black and white striped leggings from American Apparel and I can't find them anywhere :(

Home Sweet Sarah | 11:28 AM

Alright, girl, I'm in it to win it. Here's outfit number three (I love leggings+boots+sweaters - autumn better be here to stay, man!): http://www.flickr.com/photos/32315426@N03/5105004129/in/photostream/

Liz | 12:37 PM

Okay, outfit #2:

Not as interesting as yesterday, but I have got some grubby chores to do today! Also getting new glasses this afternoon, so much cooler than these ones!

Chrissyfeen | 1:59 PM

Horrible HORRIBLE pic but here it is for now. http://twitpic.com/2zvsf0 I've been in a slump as of late when it comes to getting dressed. When I went to suit up this AM I thought of this post and it really did help me put something cuter together. Your the best Rebbecca and my fashion/mommy inspiration I want to be like you when I grow up.

Femi Ford | 8:15 PM

love love love your last look best.
here's my post:

Katherine | 9:23 AM

Great outfits everyone!! So good to see and so fun to do. I love the idea. Here is mine:

Kila Bell | 12:22 PM

I'm a jeans and t-shirt girl on most days!

nmg915 | 5:44 PM

Just wanted to say I love the style and food stuff you're adding to your blog. Thanks for the awesome inspiration!!

emily bilbrey | 7:12 PM

awesome, lady! loving your outfits - i'm a huge fan of mixing layers & patterns. and you can NEVER go wrong with a good pair of boots!

can i give you my tip for a natural smile in photos? ask your photographer to say "NOW" or count down to when they're going to snap. while you're waiting, look away from the camera & keep your face blank. then as the picture snaps, look up at the camera and smile like you're laughing. if you don't try and hold the smile, it will look MUCH better. swears! ;D

my style post is *technically* from last week, but i'm guessing you'll let it slide since you're a nice person and junk. heh.

Liz | 10:45 AM

Okay, wore a cute outfit on Saturday and actually got someone else to shoot it so it's not a bad mirror shot!

Outfit #3:

with boots:

Meghan | 11:08 AM

Terrible self-mirror shot complete with bad lighting, I had just turned 34, had a miscarriage, but got bangs for the first time in 20 years so I was feeling pretty good about myself.

Amanda | 6:04 PM

So this is my lazy, tea sippin', laundry doing, pumpkin carving and horror movie watching outfit. I'll try and post something better tomorrow!

Emily | 8:04 PM

introducing outfit number two….

Am LOVING your posts you guys. SO MUCH FUN! I'm loving this!!! Keep them coming!!!

Althea | 6:32 AM

Here's one more. Everyone loves an Octo-Owl.

Amanda | 8:09 AM

Day Two-

Bethany Bassett | 8:10 AM

I have a feeling your wardrobe is just a teensy big bigger than mine... I'm a jeans gal all the way, though, so I can just focus on tops and accessories until our budget catches up with my imagination. :)

Here's my go-to outfit this week!

Bethany Bassett | 8:23 AM

Er, "bit." I promise I can spell. I also wanted to add that I'm loving both this feature and the chance to win the Clava tote. My beloved laptop is sadly lacking in the accessories department.

Femi Ford | 10:07 AM

Having a hard time transitioning to fall for my work clothes! This dress is definitely going to need some thick tights if it's going to keep getting worn through this season but it was oddly warm enough today.
You guys all have such great shoes, taking notes left and right!

Melissa | 7:34 PM

todays look comes compliments of me wanting to sleep an extra 30 minutes

Hello! De-lurking yet again to post that I just viewed your "Momversation" about blogging about your family vs. privacy vs. making a living.

In reading the dreaded "Mommy and Daddy Blogs," I think what's key is the AGE of the kids relative to my kid. As in, since my kid just turned 5 I am not reading any newborn blogs, and since there will be no more Archer I won't be reading yours either. (I'm kidding! I think it's a super-amazing very smart thing for you to leave Archer to his own stories.)

The good news is perhaps you CAN transition this blog from all about your family to a lifestyle/fashion/cooking/stuff site.

Sooner or later it's going to have to. I adore your writing and don't want to lose your voice in my life. I'm in NYC and my husband's on tour (in a dumb rock band) so you've been quite the resource all these years.

Please keep it up.

Marianne | 1:08 PM

I actually had a reason to dress up recently, and I love my Mad Men-esque look:

Liz | 2:43 PM

Okay, final outfit! Simple outfit with a pop of color.

Home Sweet Sarah | 2:59 PM

Alright, here is number five!(Blurry photo, yes, but don't let that fool you - it is in fact a shapeless sweater dress...but damn comfortable): http://www.flickr.com/photos/32315426@N03/5117907253/in/photostream/
