Drink Responsibly (Sponsored + Giveaway)

*updated with winners, below!*

The following post is sponsored by my friends at Brita. Thank you, Brita! To find out more about the Brita challenge and Filter for Good go here and here.

A few years ago, I stopped buying bottled water. Regardless of the fact that every bottle I purchased ended up in the recycling bin, I couldn't help but feel guilty every time I polished off a bottle of water, sometimes ten a day, (I'm a crazy water drinker, you guys--but more on that in a moment) only to have this stack of waste, albeit recycled waste, staring back at me from its bin. So one day I went out and bought a Brita pitcher, a few cartons of filters and a family of SIGG bottles from Whole Foods and called it a day. No more bottled water in our house, I said. And we've remained bottle free ever since.

Not only were we doing our part to save the planet, but we were also saving a hundred bucks a month in water. According to Brita's Filter for Good site, in 2008, the U.S. used enough plastic water bottles to stretch around the Earth more than 190 times. Not fabulous, America. Not fabulous at. all.

The main reason why I felt compelled to buy all those bottles of water was to keep track of how much water I was drinking. By putting two bottles of water in my purse, two in my car, one on my bedside table and keeping the rest refrigerated to drink throughout the day I knew I was getting my "eight glasses" worth...

ED: I was recently told that drinking cold water during a meal actually slows metabolism. Room temperature water is our friend. The more you know, right?

Segue in five, four, three...

Brita has asked me to write about my own "Brita Challenge" aka how I plan to reach my weight-loss goals. I gained 70 pounds this pregnancy, have lost forty and have thirty more to lose to get back to where I was last Fall. (I lost 35 pounds the week I gave birth and have lost about a pound a week since.)

Me last fall:
5'8, Size 6/8, 140 lbs
And here's me yesterday (attempting) the same ensemble:
5'8 168lbs, size 12
I subscribe to the "nine months on, nine months off" rule. So I'm giving myself the next eight months to lose my 30lb remainder. Totally doable. Maybe. I think...

Here's how I lost the weight last time and plan to do it again:

1. Drink ten large glasses of (filtered/tap) water a day - By filling up my SIGG bottle every two hours I'll stay hydrated, energized and won't retain water/bloat like whoa. OR there's this handy contraption which Brita sent me a few weeks back and is my new favorite thing.

(Genius, no?)

2. Drink no more than one alcoholic beverage a week. (This is easy for me as I drink, on average, one alcoholic beverage a month.) I'm becoming less and less interested in alcohol in my old age and would rather eat my calories in ice cream than drink them in wine.

3. Replace my bi-weekly fruit smoothies from Jamba with vegetable juices (and the occasional Kale smoothie) from the local "sustainable" smoothie shop. Thus supporting local business, locally grown foods AND less-sugar-in-my-smoothies.

4. Drink no more than two cups of coffee a day (Come on! I need SOME sort of vice in my life! Coffee is it.)

5. Walk everywhere... even if it means walking two miles to pick up my dry-cleaning. (The only place the babies sleep soundly is their strollers so this is working out in my favor across the board, actually.) In a perfect world, I'd love to make it to the gym every day but that just isn't possible. I mean... I'm typing this post with one hand at 4am, people. Working out is kind of not going to be happening anytime soon. I'm hoping in the next few months the dust on this new life will settle and I'll be able find time for Crossfit or pilates classes... maybe? In the meantime there are plenty of ways to exercise here at home, around the neighborhood and in the comfort of my own backyard.

Eat well + drink well + exercise when possible = weight loss. PERIOD.

In summary: the easiest way to lose weight? Drink more water. The easiest way to save the planet? Ditch the plastic bottle. Bottom's up! And someday soon, same will go for the zipper on my jeans. Hopefully.

I have two Brita prize packs to give away. Each basket includes a filtered water bottle, replacement filter and water pitcher! To win? Leave a comment below. I'll pick two winners via random.org next Thursday 10/27.

UPDATED: Congratulations to commenters # 512, Lin & commenter #604 Sophia, and thanks to everyone for participating! You rule.

Thanks for the info on room temp water! Who knew?

Rochelle | 12:32 PM

I was also feeling thankful for the room temperature water! How crazy.

Laura | 12:33 PM

You already look amazing post babies. That Brita water bottle really is genius.

Jessica | 12:34 PM

I make sure I drink my water using one of the giant Starbucks cold-cups... I only drink water if it's ice cold - hm, oh well.

Ellen | 12:34 PM

I've been trying to give up the plastic bottles too...so much guilt! Not only all that plastic, but the gas of importing that water on a truck rather than just through my tap.

The Dalai Mama | 12:34 PM

I love room temp water. I recently too have ditched plastic bottles.

I need to drink lots more water than I do.

Etosia (e-tasha) | 12:34 PM

All I drink us water, coffee, & juice but its always hard to keep track of how much I'm drinking! Im so going to buy one of these bottles!

Kayley Maybe | 12:35 PM

I totally got the room temperature water tip from a former roommate who was in med school, so I've long been a fan of not-cold water. I will be on the weight loss track with you as soon as I pop this baby out next month too!

Martha | 12:35 PM

I love our Brita - we moved to a city with horrible drinking water and the Brita has saved me. I hate drinking bad tasting water!

Mackenzie | 12:36 PM

That Brita thing is genius!

I used to hate drinking water, but since I've been trying to lose weight, water has definitely become a friend.

Diane. | 12:37 PM

I love that Brita water bottle! It makes it so easy to drink more water on the go.

Unknown | 12:37 PM

I have sensitive teeth and it hurts too much to drink cold water, so I'm glad that room temperature is good for you! I love the 9 months on, 9 months off philosophy.

Unknown | 12:39 PM

Room temp water kind of makes me want to gag, though. Oh well, some water's better than none, yes?

PS, we're the same height & I weigh 10 lbs less than you (but still have 10 to go to pre-preg from my first kid and then another 10-15 to goal) FOURTEEN MONTHS after giving birth to my second. YOU JUST HAD TWINS. I'm jealous.

Keri | 12:39 PM

i'm the same height and weight (pre-preg) as you. gained 40 lbs and lost only 10 after giving birth last month! am doing pilates at home little by little but i def do need to drink more water!

Mamalang | 12:40 PM

I would love to have these items. The filter on water dispenser on the fridge is sooo expensive, we don't replace it often enough. I've been trying to get the bottles gone, but it hasn't been happening.

Megan Stuke | 12:41 PM

We so need that. I refuse to buy plastic so we just drink straight tap. Is it killing us? I hope not! Britta! Help us!

Angie | 12:41 PM

That was the first change I made when I moved in my then brand new husband two years ago - bye bye bottles - hello filter and we have loved it ever since.

MGS4783 | 12:41 PM

I need a Brita! I'm currently prego with my first and am dreading losing the weight after!!

Ashley | 12:42 PM

I love that you took a picture in the same outfit. I felt less bad that I am not where I was at last winter. I didn't have a baby, but I got married. When I am happy, I eat a lot more. You are still rockin that bod though.

Mama | 12:42 PM

I've been thinking of investing in the SIGG bottles for us since my kids and husband go through water like it's, well, water.

I'm getting on board with the filtered water but I'm one of those wierdos that can taste the difference between Dasani, Aquafina and tap. Like all three are vastly different and if you have several water sources? Then the taps are all different. I know. I'm a freak. I'm trying though.

Jen B | 12:43 PM

Can't wait to see how it goes. Love Brita.

Jess | 12:43 PM

great giveaway, could really use it since i'm expecting my first baby in janruary:)

Christine Bilek | 12:44 PM

I am on a quest to lose 50 lbs that I have been carrying around for 5+ years since having my first son! Water is my BFF!

Madee | 12:45 PM

Ditching the plastic is making me forget to drink. This is genius!

Kate | 12:45 PM

I don't so much care about the water stuff as I just wanted to second the 9m on 9m off rule. I didn't really gain much weight, but I was amazed that it really did take the full 9m off for all my skin to shrink back. I didn't wear my smallest/tightest jeans until almost exactly nine months after... Bodies are amazing!

Amy P. | 12:45 PM

I love Brita! And would love to try the new water bottle.

Krystal Schmidt | 12:45 PM

Wow, walking everywhere is super ambitious and don't think I could do it where I live. I think the other stuff is definitely do-able though and will incorporate it into my weight loss plan. Good luck!

Anonymous | 12:48 PM

yay! I'd love to win this... I use a Brita pitcher at home, and i'm currently 24 weeks pregnant so this would definitely help me out on teh go!

Annie | 12:48 PM

Eeekk! My baby turns 9 months in 2 weeks, I better get on it!! :) You look amazing btw!

mommaruthsays | 12:49 PM

I've slacked off the last 4 months ignoring my baby weight - this motivates me to do SOMETHING!

And as a household that just recently (like, last week kind of recently) got on CITY WATER, I still think we need to filter that stuff. Love this giveaway!

Anonymous | 12:49 PM

I just had our second baby a month ago and we bought a huge flat of water bottles from Costco, which is something we never do. I remembered how thirsty nursing made me with my first son, so I wanted to have an easy way to stay hydrated and for some reason I'm really bad about pouring myself a glass of water and drinking that.. I'd leave it somewhere or knock it over. Bottles can be next to my bed without spilling, and I find myself more inclined to grab a bottle than pour a glass. I feel guilty about it though, so I would love to win this prize pack and not buy any more bottles.

meganonymous | 12:50 PM

Damn girl, you look fantastic (especially having just popped out those adorable girls of yours!).

Lacey Jane | 12:51 PM

We have been off plastic bottles for two years and using a Brita filter system. When I got pregnant, I couldn't drink even filtered water from a stainless steel water bottle (my usual go-to) without throwing up (so charming!), so we went back to plastic water bottles. At least I did. I felt guilty, but I felt guiltier not drinking enough water for my current wombmate! A water bottle with a filter in it?!? Awesome. If I don't win this giveaway- I'll probably buy one anyway. Thanks for the info! <3

Unknown | 12:51 PM

So funny.
Thanks for reminding us that responsible choices can be easy to make!

sweetmelissa818 | 12:51 PM

My family drinks a lot of water. I've periodically tried to stop buying bottled, but always lose that battle.

t. | 12:51 PM

Kudos to you for being so honest about your weight and where you are at. Sounds like an amazing plan (and if you plan to breastfeed, that will help too). Love brita. I have started just using regular tap with lemon and one HUGE 10 cup pitcher. Fill and gulp. All. Day. Long.

Megan | 12:52 PM

I just recently started drinking filtered water instead of bottled water because of that same guilt. Plus it's actually cheaper.

Jessica | 12:52 PM

i am a fiend for water. i never understood people who say they can't stand the taste of it. anyway, you look fab and good luck!

bmislan | 12:53 PM

You look amazing already, but good luck with your goal weight!

Liz | 12:53 PM

You're looking great! I'm sure you'll see your goal no problem. Love the Brita contraption.

Meg | 12:53 PM

I am a die hard icy cold water fan...but slowing my metabolism? That is also not fabulous. Thanks for the info.

rebecca | 12:53 PM

ooh count me in for the weight loss with more water challenge.

stephanie | 12:53 PM

You are awesome for writing about this! Bottled water makes me bananas. We drink tap water, but I've been meaning to get a Brita pitcher... maybe now? ;)

Rebecca | 12:54 PM

You still look fabulous! Good to know about the cold water thing, I guzzle water during my meals. Everyone I live with prefers cold water though, so an additional Brita for me to keep outside the fridge would be awesome. =)

karyn | 12:54 PM

My baby is 4 now, I have no excuses. What makes it hard is that I'm a water snob, I won't drink tap water (or as my kids call it, "sink water").

Schnockered Mom | 12:54 PM

will be doing this myself in about 6 months (needing to lose baby weight that is).

Daisy | 12:55 PM

I'd love that filtered water bottle....my work drinking fountain tastes funny so I end up carrying (reuseable) bottles back and forth from home- always sad when I run out half way through the day.

Anonymous | 12:55 PM

You're such a good sport! So cute in your hat.

Becky Stephens | 12:56 PM

I am SUCH a fan of room temp water that I put in my own bottle! I've rarely bought bottled water since meeting my husband as he complains about the steep price for "the most plentiful resource on earth." I'd LOVE to have a filter built into my bottle, though, as I can never get through work on just one bottle!!

Spencer Family | 12:57 PM

Great tips. I'm horrible at drinking enough water--I so need to be better at that!

Fat Bottomed Girl | 12:57 PM

I am 29 weeks pregnant and am at 40lbs weight gain, I could use some help in the weight loss department post birth. Bring on the brita!

Kimberly | 12:57 PM

Good luck with your challenge!

I really, really need to join you in drinking more H2O. Maybe this is my lucky day!

comicshopgrl | 12:58 PM

I have a ton of reusable water bottles from races I've run. I like the metal ones because the water doesn't get stale in them.

You look great btw!!

Anna | 12:58 PM

I'd love to win this! Also, those boots are fierce.

Grace Miller | 12:58 PM

I'd love one of those fancy Brita water bottles! I don't drink very much during the day, and having one of those would certainly help.
p.s. I gained 80 pounds during pregnancy, and lost it all in 9 months...thanks to breastfeeding & babywearing. You can do it!

Katsb | 12:58 PM

This post reminded me I'm only drinking a quarter of the amount of water I should be. Yikes.

caressa | 12:58 PM

I'd love to win this! It sounds like an amazing contraption!

Jenny | The Balow Bunch | 12:59 PM

That water bottle is awesome! I want it!

shannondawn100 | 12:59 PM

I used to use Brita pitchers and filters but in my twenties had a hard time being responsible enought to refill the pitcher. Seriously! I bet I'll do better in my late thirties...

Autumn | 1:00 PM

currently pregnant and nursing. . . I need to be drinking a minimum bajillion glasses of water a day.

michis mind | 1:01 PM

We go through 35 bottles of water every 4 days! I had never thought of the Brita system!

Anonymous | 1:01 PM

First, you look great! And your babies and little ones are all beautiful! Water is great, but exercise if better. You are right, walk as much as you can. Maybe when the little ones are 6 months old you and Hal can go to the Y and do " baby and me" water classes. The babies at our Y are made to wear bathing caps (kind of dumb, I know) and they sit on "noodles" with the help of parents. They look too cute with the colorful caps and noodles and big, big smiles and laughs. Blessings to you and your family at this special time of early childhood. Wishing you only the best.

Kaitlin | 1:02 PM

This was the kick in the butt I needed - My son is 10.5 months old and I'm still hanging on to the last 10 pounds. Time to start doing something about it. You look great!

The Hojo Family | 1:02 PM

I have recently lost 117lbs. (It has taken 10 months so far) and I have 25lbs. left to go, so I really enjoyed reading this post. The ONLY thing I drink anymore is water, so this would be AMAZING!!

Tara | 1:02 PM

I need to try drinking room temperature water with my meals - The colder it is, the better it tastes :)

Hettie | 1:03 PM

I drink so much water that people ask if I am a diabetic...no, I just love water! Would love a Brita prize pack! :)

Anonymous | 1:03 PM

Since we have moved to AZ we have been drinking a ton of bottle water. We are waiting to close on a house and are staying in this tiny suit apartment not sure what option would be better got our family. We have thought about putting a system under our sink or buying the big jugs and water dispensing machine which is not the smartest with a 3 year old and a baby on the way! This seems like a great alternative for us to look into!!

Chrisitna @ busybmommy | 1:03 PM

So...um...I have the same stats (5'8" size 12) and my baby is 3 1/2. Ugh. You may inspire me to finally kick myself in the ass and lose the g-damn wait. My 30th bday is 13 months away...bday challenge anyone???

P.S. I drink about a gallon of water a day. Out of a plastic bottle that I refill for a week. Yes I know I will get cancer. But I refill it from a Brita in my fridge. So that means SOMETHING right?

Courtney | 1:03 PM

I'm also in the midst of the off part of my 9 months on, 9 months off...I have ~15 pounds to lose and about 6 months left to do it. Here's to eating and drinking well!

erin | 1:03 PM

I'm SUCH a water drinker and I often worry about the quality of the water at the office. I already drink my water out of a SIGG bottle, but that doesn't help with filtering! I'm also a room temp water girl. I learned last year that cold water puts out your "agni" (digestive fire) and who wants that? So I learned to like room temp water. My friends and fam think I'm so weird. Heh.

The Kellys | 1:03 PM

We stopped using bottled water a long time ago, too. Now we fill up reusable bottles and leave them in the fridge. Simple!

Also, you look FANTASTIC!

Nannette | 1:04 PM

As I sit here eating a handful of chocolate chips (and almonds! almonds are good for you, right?) and drinking out of my bottle of water (for shame) I thank you, from the bottom of my pudgy heart, for sharing the "after" photo of you in last year's outfit. Your honesty (and hilarity) inspire me often and I plan to boot the bottles and use my Brita filter more (and get one of those nifty on-the-go contraptions!). Thank you for my daily dose of kick-in-the-pants inspiration.

Ashley | 1:04 PM

If I weren't pregnant and saving up for baby, I would definitely buy everyone a brita pitcher for Christmas! It's definitely the way to go!

Anonymous | 1:05 PM

Wow - you already look GREAT. I shunned the camera for a good 6 months post-baby, now I'm a little sad about it since I'm not in my daughter's newborn pix, except for my arms...Anyhoo, the 9+/9- thing is a good guideline, but, for real: DO NOT beat up on yourself if it takes a bit longer to recover from the C-section than it did from "regular" birth. ~ Another C-section mama.

Mary | 1:06 PM

I didn't know that about the room temp water - huh, wonder why cold water slows down metabolism? I would have thought that the body would burn *more* calories attempting to bring the water up to room temp.

I usually drink water like whoa, but ever since I moved I've been having trouble getting in my 8 glasses a day. Guess that's my new goal for the week!

Jenna | 1:07 PM

Being the child of an avid jogger and aerobics teacher, I've always thought I had to live at the gym to change my shape. Turns out my body responds great to a daily walk and vats of water. Who knew? Have fun and your kids are gorgeous!

writtenbliss | 1:07 PM

You've lost so much already, and I'm sure the rest will fall right off, too. Thanks for the giveaway! I've been eyeing those filter water bottles on the Biggest Loser this season. :)

Lindsay | 1:08 PM

We gave up water bottles around a year or two ago as well. I personally don't like drinking (or eating) from all of that nasty plastic. I use a klean kanteen. Cute and not too expensive!

Bree | 1:08 PM

I like the second set of pictures better, because there is an adorable little girl in them! I'm loving the vegetarian recipes as I'm trying to live a healthier lifestyle too. Thanks for all the great tips (and the baby pictures, they make my day)!

Berlyns Mommy | 1:08 PM

I too would rather eat my calories in ice cream rather than a glass of wine! You are looking fantastic girl! I finally lost the remaining 5 lbs of baby weight from my last pregnancy and my babe will be 21 months on friday.

Andi | 1:09 PM

Can you show me some proof to the room temp water? I've heard that SO MUCH but I've never found anything scientific to back taht up. I've asked a few doctors, they say that's made up!

Stacy | 1:11 PM

I have to admit that I don't really enjoy drinking water but having a water bottle really does help me drink more. A filtered bottle would be awesome!

Lauren | 1:11 PM

Wahhooo!! Brita! I gave up bottled water a year ago and do.not.miss.it. When I do need water on the go, I will VERY RARELY grab a glass bottle of sparkling something and then use it as a vase until I recycle it. yay!

Sue | 1:11 PM

I am a big fan of reusable water bottles! I have one that keeps track of how many times it's filled up. Thanks for the tip about room temp water and metabolism.

Melanie | 1:11 PM

I'm down 60 from my triplet pregnancy and still have 30 to go. I've upped my water too, but still not enough since our work water is gross!

Stefanie | 1:11 PM

I'm a few days shy of being 36 weeks prego with my first baby and have definitely seen the benefits of chugging water all day, even if it does mean a lot of time in the bathroom. I have yet to have swollen feet or hands and my skin has bounced back from the horrible hormonal acne of my first trimester. Thanks for the inspiration to keep healthy; I am totally using the 9 months on, 9 months off motto!

Sara Laverty | 1:12 PM

I'm obsessed with finding the perfect water bottle - mine just bit the dust after many years together. Also, I'm trying to lose some weight too and am convinced water is key!

Ariel | 1:13 PM

I'm seven months pregnant and went through a brief period where I was definitely not drinking enough water. I now carry a 24 oz camelbak water bottle with me everywhere and my goal is to fill and drain it four times a day. I really like the camelbak because it lets me sip water throughout the day, rather than having to stop what I'm doing to drink water. I would LOVE a water bottle with a built in filter- I work and live in the DC area... notorious for lead in the pipes :-(
(email address - arielbrandt@gmail.com)

Marie M. | 1:13 PM

I drink tons of water too and would love some new water paraphernalia. I had my second baby 6 months ago and am still trying to lose some weight. I wish "not sleeping" counted as exercise because I'd be the most physically fit person in the universe right now.

melanieandbrad | 1:14 PM

My body must be smarter than I am because I like room temperature water better than cold water!

Also, your gorgeous babes are totally worth a few months of a few extra pounds, but I think you knew that already.

Mindy | 1:15 PM

I am way better about drinking water when I am in the office, because every time my water bottle is empty, I refill. I need to figure out how to stay hydated like that at home on the weekends!

Darcie | 1:15 PM

I would love wean the family off of bottled water. I drink out of fridge dispenser, but catch the hubby at HOME with a bottle of water. I can see if you're leaving, but at HOME? Grab a friggin glass for petes sake.

Anonymous | 1:15 PM

oh, i just posted and forgot to mention that a years ago, for a number of years we used the brita system. Then we moved and put a permanent filter on the sink faucet. Then we got tired of the expensive and special order filters. Then we moved and drank straight tap water. Then I noticed that the water pipes were moldy. Now we buy big jugs of spring water (in plastic, ugh!). Would love to win and be inspired to go back to britta.

K | 1:16 PM

Would you mind listing off some of the "plenty of ways to exercise in my neighborhood and backyard" you mentioned? I'm also trying to shed some baby weight (about 8 lbs to go!) and would love suggestions. I play soccer and run with a double stroller, but I would love some backyard suggestions I could do during naptime.

Mama Bee | 1:17 PM

I put orange slices, melon, lemon, limes and so on in my (and the kid's) water so it has flavour and I drink more of it. I love the tap water filter bottle!

Unknown | 1:17 PM

This is especially important for us LA-area peeps, because our errant plastic waste goes straight into the ocean. And the water in the ocean? We eventually drink it again. What goes around comes around on this little planet of ours! Justin Timberlake was right. ;)

J | 1:17 PM

My son is 3 months old and I have about 10-15 lbs to lose. I also require quite abbot of water when Breastfeeding. So much so that when I dont get enough I can't wear my contacts! I'd love to win this.

Sarah | 1:18 PM

You really look amazing! I need to drink more water, maybe this will help??

norah | 1:18 PM

I too feel the guilt of drinking bottled water. Help me overcome!

Beth | 1:19 PM

Ugh, I'm going to be the Debbie Downer and share that a lot of what we think about water is a myth, including the 8 glasses a day thing and the weight loss thing:

Although if you're not drinking your calories in soda or sugary fruit drinks and drinking water instead, then of course that's better. :)

I, too, carry a metal water bottle and fill it up a few times a day. I am kind of a soda snob and can't believe some of my co-workers who snap open a Diet Coke in the morning.

marissa | 1:19 PM

After years of eschewing tap water because I didn't like the taste, my college roommate introduced me to the Brita pitcher and Diet Coke execs began to wonder why their sales were down so severely. A wedge of lemon in the bottom of my bottle keeps me drinking water all day long.

ste | 1:19 PM

I'm a long-time Brita user. And for some reason I always thought you were shorter than 5'8"!

Anonymous | 1:20 PM

Ohhh, I would love to have this. My Pur pitcher just got a big ole crack in it and the fliters are shot.

Maternal Mirth | 1:21 PM

LOVE Brita! And I am really sad we can't do the post-twins weight loss thing together... I, of course, can't start mine until after March, you know, like when I really AM post-twins rather than with-twins... HUGS

Maternal Mirth | 1:21 PM

LOVE Brita! We, too, no longer drink bottles in this casa!

And I am really sad we can't do the post-twins weight loss thing together... I, of course, can't start mine until after March, you know, like when I really AM post-twins rather than with-twins... HUGS

Sara | 1:21 PM

Loved the room temp info. This has definitely inspired me to drink more water.

Anonymous | 1:22 PM

I drink tons of water too! This would be wonderful to win!
You look awesome by the way. <3

Anabelle | 1:23 PM

I am totally with you when it comes to losing pregnancy weight :) I lost quite a lot when I gave birth (not a lot to lose since I had gestational diabete and was on a severe diet) but then the last pounds were the hardest to lose. Also I gained weight during the first 2 months after giving birth because I was up all night feeding my baby and eating cookies to make it more fun :)
In the end, you are right, 9 months is what is needed to go back to "normal" (if you consider having less breast - in my case zero - and an unfriendly looking belly, "normal"). So in order to be the bomb you used to be, you definitely need to exercise a little... I'm not completely there yet.

But lovely lady, you look fabulous even with your extra pounds and I love that you have the guts to show a "before and after" like you did on this post. Thanks in the name of women :)

Emily | 1:23 PM

Oh, I want one of those Brita water bottles- so cool!

Rachel | 1:24 PM

I recently gave up diet coke (my prescious...) and switched to water. I've seen a noticable change in a lot of things: my skin, my waistline, etc. I love Brita, but I also love seltzer. So I got a Soda Stream seltzer maker. It is AWESOME!

fabulousmrsg | 1:24 PM

I am 25 weeks pregnant and will certainly need some motivation in losing the weight once my little guy is born. This will help with the water intake for sure.

Krista | 1:25 PM

Love it! I'm off to fill up a huge glass of water now...

sucker4acoustic | 1:26 PM

I def need to drink more water. My second is now 9 weeks old and I need to be doing more to gain energy any way I can.

KJS | 1:26 PM

You look great, doesn't look like you will need the nine months, but take it anyway. I love that contraption. I have so many water bottles and yet packing for the day they seem to get forgotten, then I don't drink anything or guiltily drink bottled....and always good to have vices.

brooke robyn cannon | 1:26 PM

Um, amazing "you in the same outfit photo'!!!!! Tis comment has nothing to do with water. You brighten my day with your blog!

Kathi | 1:29 PM

I am trying to do a pre-baby (pre-pregnancy) weight loss. Yay for water!

linsey | 1:29 PM

I desperately need a new water filter at home. Mine is circa 2003 (aka, my freshman year of college) and needs a slight update. If I win, the newbie will be at home and the oldie will be at work.

Jasmine | 1:30 PM

I'm expecting #1 son right around November 1st - receiving this giveaway could be a timely kick start for me!

Katie | 1:31 PM

I always kick myself that I don't drink enough water, and also love my brita! Fingers crossed for a win!

Eunice | 1:32 PM

You are awesome for posting those before and after pics! Cute outfit too. We've been using a filter for about 2 years now and it makes such a big difference. I feel guilty even buying the occasional water bottle because it's such a waste.

Julia | 1:33 PM

Thanks for the H20 reminder!
I drink tons of water, but also tons of "zero" beverages – those are no good for the environment, either. Or me, really. It's time to quit 'em, methinks.

lonek8 | 1:34 PM

I just bought a couple of new water bottles with these cool flip top caps and I am loving them!! I also drink crazy water every day and I am never out of arm's reach from my water.

You look fabulous already, and I'm sure you will take all the remaining weight off no problem.

ps: love the new header!

Samantha | 1:34 PM

Oh, man. I need to drink more water :(

ThatGirlRuns | 1:34 PM

I have always been a water drinker but even more so since we moved to Palm Springs. I down my first 16 ounces the moment I get up and before heading out the door for my daily run. Then another 16 after I get back and about 3 to 4 bottles during the day, another one at the gym and another during dinner and after. I never feel hunger pains and my skin is thankful for all the hydration. The toilet paper bill on the other hand is a whole different matter!

Amanda | 1:36 PM

I am also against bottled water. But we recently moved to an area with super-hard water, and our house has a water softener. Softened water, as you may or may not know, tastes VILE. And has all kind of sodium in it. I would love to just turn off the softener, but we use cloth diapers and it is impossible to get them clean in our super-hard water without it. In the fall we are planning on running a separate water line up to the kitchen sink so we can have drinking water that bypasses the softener. In the meantime, we are buying our water in giant 10-liter jugs and I HATE it.

Kristyn | 1:37 PM

I was hoping you would post about the"other side" of pregnancy seeing as you were so awesome to run us through the whole pregnancy with twins thing. You see I basically had twins......except mine were rolled into one ginormous 10lb 5oz son. He is 2.5 years old and my weight will not budge. I am doing everything I can think of to lose the 30lbs I could live without and it just sits there. My stomach muscles separated down the front and may need surgery to correct, but the weight...go away already. Maybe I need a magic Brita filter?...yes that's it.

Glenda | 1:38 PM

i too drink tons of water w/ lemon. thanks for the room temp water info... didn't know that... interesting.

i think you look fantabulous after recently giving birth. i'm sure you will get back to your ideal weight.

rock on!! and your babies are gorgeous x2

Bunny | 1:38 PM

Like you, we have ditched the plastic bottles. It was hard at first, because it was so convenient to keep track of how much water I'm drinking.
Why is room temp water better?

Entwined Essentials | 1:39 PM

Wow, good info to know! You are an amazing and gorgeous momma! Thanks so much for sharing your life with all of us.

KAFS | 1:39 PM

Uh, the new Brita bottle is AMAZING. Our Brita pitcher broke last week.

You look great. The girls, rather your entire family, is gorge and you are such an inspiration.

Jess | 1:40 PM

you look fabulous! i can't even tell you what i weigh (at the same height) and i've had babies, well Never!
i love love love you blog, and your general outlook on life. your family is just glorious :)

Nicole | 1:40 PM

Makes so much sense! I used to drink all kinds of water but have fallen down on the job. Must get back into it!

dani | 1:41 PM

Room temperature water is the best! I'm looking forward to seeing your progress (love getting healthy without going crazy). I also stopped buying water bottles - though at the airport it's a little harder. Clearly I need that new brita water bottle!

Unknown | 1:42 PM

Yay! I love room temp water. Also, gave up caffiene on Labor Day this year and have lost 25 pounds. Still have about 75 more to go, but you know, it's a start. Would love to get my hands on one of those Brita water bottles.

JP | 1:42 PM

I love this. I can't wait to follow along.

Thank you so much for the opportunity.

Stephanie Wilson she/her @babysteph | 1:43 PM

Oh goodness, I'd love to win, And you crack me up. You are awesome.

Gina | 1:43 PM

Totally didn't know about the room temperature thing. I'd heard drink it cold and your body has to work to warm it up, thus burn more calories.

I am going on this challenge with you! I'm almost exactly your size right now, 5'8" 163lbs, size 12. Unfortunately I don't have the same reason as you... no babies for me yet! but love, love, love your blog.

RebekahAmy | 1:43 PM

You look great for just having twin babes. Just sayin. Also, I love Brita and broke my pitcher awhile back. Sad. Lastly, warm water helps with metabolism? GOOD TO KNOW!

caelan | 1:45 PM

but cold water tastes so much better! maybe a twist of lemon will help?

Elissa L. | 1:46 PM

I would love to give up the plastic bottles!

Marissa | 1:46 PM

Oooh how i need to work on drinking more water. Love the water bottle!!

beanjelly | 1:47 PM

Good thing I prefer my water room temp...who knew?!

Emily | 1:48 PM

I ditched plastic water bottles a couple of years ago! I just heard about that Brita bottle from the Going Green Committee here at my work. I need to get one!

Lori.cavanaugh@gmail.com | 1:48 PM

Room Temp Water it is! I have 27lbs to lose and my baby is 3 months today. I am in with this water challenge. You look fab btw!

Taryn | 1:49 PM

I've seen those water bottles around but haven't seen one to purchase! I think it'd be great when you're out and about.

Lauren | 1:49 PM

Sounds like a great weight-loss plan! Also, thanks for the tip on room temp water :)

Katy Kash | 1:49 PM

You still look great! And I <3 water as well! I heard that drinking cold water burns more calories though? Whatev! Also a good tip - since you drink so much water a day, you get up more times to walk to the bathroom, so for someone in an office this is great to get more steps in!

Perfectly Impurfect Me | 1:52 PM

Kudos to you for giving your body and yourself time to achieve your goal weight!

Anonymous | 1:52 PM

i would love to win!

book_chick81 | 1:56 PM

I'm working on losing some weight right now too and struggle greatly with drinking enough water. The water bottle would make it easier for me!

Amy K | 1:57 PM

You look fabulous! I really need to make myself drink more water, so maybe some Brita goodies would jumpstart that.

Justine B. | 1:58 PM

OMG I really need these in my life! I am a plastic water bottle drinker because its so....convenient. I need to fix this!

beyond | 1:59 PM

my baby's 11 weeks today, so i'm giving myself a bit more time, too. i should drink more water, though. thanks for the reminder.

Archer | 2:02 PM

You look awesome! My weight loss tip is green tea. It seriously works. I brew a pot everyday and add it to my water. Probably equivalent to 6 cups a day. I drink it all day at room temperature. It takes a little getting used to but the weight just comes off. No lie.

jillian | 2:03 PM

You already look great! I love that Brita water bottle- I may need that!

Chris H. | 2:04 PM

I don't buy water from the vending machine b/c of the plastic bottle issue, but then I don't drink enough water. My bottle always seems to be somewhere else. I need to get several and have them stashed everywhere. The Brita one is a great idea.

Catherine Just | 2:05 PM

I'm still trying to lose my baby weight. I've got about 10 pounds to go and my son is 2.5 years old. Come on Brita!

Laura | 2:05 PM

Was just discussing with a new mama friend the amazingness of reusable water bottles, the loathsomeness of plastic bottles and how we love the nyc water and she's afraid when she moves to seattle in a few months how she'll cope with the icky tasting water - will a Brita cut it?

Motherhood and Me | 2:05 PM

Loved your tips. I am working on losing the 70 that I am carrying around after both kids. Plus, they are WAY past babies (4 and 2) working hard and would love this fancy water bottle. Thanks.

Abigail | 2:05 PM

I don't understand how some people don't like drinking water?? I love it!

Tracey R | 2:08 PM

I will be on your same journey in two short months after the little one arrives. A little nervous about getting back to pre-preg size but will be trying to cut myself slack!! Love your plan.

I had heard that about the room temp water, but it's so much better cold!!!! ;-)

Tbalbo19 at hotmail

didi | 2:09 PM

I have felt the same guilt over water bottles in my recycle bin! I would love to win the Brita package! :) ehugs and ekisses to Bo & Rev & big sis & big bro.

BreAnne Leigh | 2:11 PM

Congratulations on your beautiful family! And great work on your weightloss efforts, you've got the right idea and mind set I see you being greatly successful! Good luck! :)

kim {the non-mom blogger} | 2:11 PM

I hadn't seen that water bottle before. Way cool. And I love your photos - you crack me up.

Alexandra | 2:12 PM

Wonderful tip on the room temperature water, never knew this! thanks for the chance to win the water bottle and pitcher!

Matt and/or Jacquie | 2:13 PM

We love our Brita filter!

RedDaisy | 2:14 PM

I am exactly the same H & W at...3.5 years post baby. LOL. I could most definetly use more water in my life...along with yoga, time and...and...so I will start with the Brita system. Thanks for sharing!

Elda | 2:15 PM

I think you look amazing at both sizes. That baby is a great accessory! I LOVE your blog!

Anonymous | 2:15 PM

THANK YOU for speaking out against the scourge that is plastic water bottles! Commodification of water and overuse of plastics are two topics I tend to get on a soapbox about...always glad to see others who share the view.

Sarah | 2:16 PM

I knew about not drinking water during a meal, but I had no idea about the temperature - thanks for the tip!

Anonymous | 2:17 PM

I hate drinking bottled water because of the waste, and I don't buy it anymore either. I don't know if I can deal with the room temp. water though...

You look amazing already! These sound like very reasonable and attainable goals. Good luck!

Amelia | 2:19 PM

We love our brita, use it all the time.
Just to add, it took me until I stopped breastfeeding to even lose a pound, so be kind to yourself with the 9 months off. :))

SuzanaC | 2:25 PM

I had no idea why my sister always insisted on room temperature water but now I know! And she thought she could keep something like that to herself...figures.

P.S. Babies are totally worth any potential weight gain.

Kate Giovinco Photography | 2:29 PM

I rarely buy water bottles anymore unless I am traveling and don't have a reusable bottle on me. I use the Brita all the time and have for years. I feel guilty every single time I buy a bottle of water and feel like a complete fool. I want to scream at myself "WHY WOULD YOU BUY WATER, it is practically free, you stupid American"

Wading Patiently | 2:30 PM

Congratulations!! You look awesome... you're gonna do great. I'm so glad we can watch your journey. Please pick me! I've always loved room temp anyways, people thought I was crazy til now :-)

Jemnifer | 2:31 PM

You look GREAT for just having 2 giant beautiful babies taken out of you!! You will be inspiring me in 7 weeks when I face the battle of losing the baby weight. Great work!!

colby | 2:32 PM

i'm so glad to know that room temp water is actually "better" for me, and i'm not just some freak who doesn't like ice cold water :)

keight dukes | 2:32 PM

ugh. sheesh i love you for having the balls to show the before in the after (slash pre-before) outfit and to drop the numbers in pub. you probably have 30 lbs of sheer ball weight.

Homa | 2:34 PM

I am 23lbs. down from when I got pregnant with my 2nd child. I was overweight so there is another 20 to go. We have been riding our bikes once a week but I need to step up the exercise. Sigh.

Carrie R | 2:36 PM

We love our pitcher, but a water bottle for when on the go would maybe make me actually DRINK water!

Shaina | 2:37 PM

i hate really cold water :-) i much prefer room-temp. however...i am a bit addicted to flavored, fizzy water. in plastic bottles. which i recycle of course! and i fill them up at least once a day with normal water too!

maybe if i had a nifty brita bottle i'd drink more normal water ;-)

Anonymous | 2:38 PM

That's interesting about the room temperature water. I was told if you drank cold water it would force your body to warm up the water thus resulting in some kind of calorie loss. Interesting stuff. I also only like super cold water. Room temp water is not so easy to drink. But good to know!

Rachel E. | 2:40 PM

Your twins are the sweetest little snookums EVER. Congratulations!

Serenity Now | 2:42 PM

room temp - bleh...I've been trying to boost my water intake too - and trying to lose before getting pregnant again - so that would be awesome!

leah | 2:42 PM

You look amazing! 9 months on 9 months off is great advice that I will be taking to heart after my twins come out next Tuesday.

Anonymous | 2:42 PM

OOOOooooHHHH I need that Brita water bottle in my life!

Jennifer Lissette | 2:43 PM

My two year old broke the mouthpiece of two of my three reusable water bottles so I'd definitely love to win this.

Andrea | 2:44 PM

You look great. That profile shot is impressive after third pregnancy and twins!

leah | 2:44 PM

You look amazing! I shall be taking the 9 months on and 9 months off advice to heart after I have my twins on Tuesday.

Andrea | 2:46 PM

You look great! That profile shot is impressive, especially after a 3rd pregnancy and twins to boot!

Jen | 2:53 PM

My co-workers make fun of me for carrying (and forgetting :) my h20 bottle everywhere! It is especially my friend post-partum and nursing(pumping)-- I'm SO thirsty! I also have a bit of a water bottle (reusable that is) obsession- my husband would kill me if I spend 1 more $ on adding to our collection!

Ethel | 2:55 PM

I drink water all day, everyday!!!
Also, you amazing~

KEK | 2:56 PM

No wonder my health-conscious in-laws ALWAYS drink room temperature water!

Natalie | 2:59 PM

Ever since my old Brita broke (yea, I dropped it and shattered, whoops) my daily intake has been AWFUL! I need another one in my life!

Anonymous | 3:02 PM

can i just say you look fabulous!! we have a brita and we love it!! i just don't have the water bottle. must get one even if i don't win!!

Adrienne | 3:06 PM

RIght. on.
You rock pre- and post- baby bod like it's your JOB.
Keep us posted on your progress! I know we're all eager to cheer you on.

Janel | 3:08 PM

I'm trying to lose the baby weight too, Rebecca. I've already got two months down, and seven more to go in order to lose twenty more pounds. That's do-able, right? Also, I have a Brita pitcher in my house, and absolutely love it. I love cold water, and found I'm more likely to drink it if it's cold and straight out of the fridge.

Kathleen | 3:09 PM

Thank you for taking a stand on bottled water. It is simply unacceptable how many resources we waste on something that can be found so cheaply in our taps (assuming you are privileged enough to live in a country with clean water). If you ever want to learn even more about disposable plastics in general, the movie "Bag It" is excellent. It significantly changed my buying and lifestyle habits when it comes to all sorts of plastics. I don't think plastic is inherently bad but the vast majority of disposable plastics are.

Allira | 3:12 PM

I don't drink enough water, mainly because I refuse to buy bottled water too! So I need one of these (please) :) xx

Becca and Jordan Duvall | 3:13 PM

You go girl!
